spellbreak, part battle royale, rogue-like, and role-playing game, comes to playstation 4 sometime early next year

Spellbreak is a sort of gaming chimera. It builds off of the first-person shooters of the past but reincorporates concepts from dozens of other gaming genres to make something truly new, fun and interesting. And now players will get a chance to try out that chimera on the PlayStation 4. Spellbreak, Part Battle Royale, Rogue-Like, And Role-Playing Game, Comes to PlayStation 4 Sometime Early Next Year

That’s because, starting early next year, Spellbreak will be available for beta testing on the console. The whole concept of the game revolves around the idea of being a battlemage, and the battle-royale sections of the game are mostly about weaving spells than they are about shooting at each other. And Proletariat, the studio behind the game, really wants that aspect to shine through.

That’s where most of the rogue-like and role-playing elements come into play. Spellbreak really wants to take the concept of first-person shooting and bring it into a whole new world rather than the banal stuff we’ve seen repeated over and over again over the last few decades. In fact, in a post on the PlayStation Blog, Proletariat’s CEO Seth Sivak even attributes the game’s inspiration to the fantasy genre.

“Guns and grenades can only take you so far,” he writes, “and we wanted to explore something different, something that harkens back to the fantasy books that we grew up reading.”

The game takes place in a world called the Hollow lands, where enemy mages lay in wait. The player will be able to go on quests, discover new content and special events, and experience a universe and narrative that frames the ongoing fray.

But perhaps most interesting is the gameplay, magic will be wielding by using a combination of gauntlets and runes. Each player will have the ability to choose to wield two gauntlets, each of which comes with two separate magical abilities. On top of this, they will also be able to equip a number of runes that provide movement and support abilities that players can use to boost how they wield their gauntlets on the battlefield.

But there’s more, gauntlets can be used together to create combinations of elemental magic. Players can create tornados and light them on fire, or fire gauntlets can be used to melt enemy ice. There’s going to be dozens of combinations that players will need to learn how to use and counter throughout the game. So tactics and strategy is a central concern for Spellbreak.

The survival-horror genre is absolutely booming right now. There are so many great games in this category, from zombie thrillers to alien stealth titles. It’s always nice to see a game inspired by a horror movie, though. That’s a big appeal of Blair Witch, a psychological horror game developed by Bloober Team.

Ever since this game launched, fans of The Blair Witch Project series have enjoyed their time with this chilling experience. It’s not a perfect game, but it has some tense moments that are always exciting to experience in a game depicting ritualistic cults and some form of demonic spirits. That’s not the case anymore as Blair Witch just released on the PlayStation 4. That just means a new wave of gamers get to enjoy the thrills and creepy sights that are littered throughout this game. Right away, Blair Witch feels like it fits right in with the movies thanks to its woody setting. That’s where the main protagonist, Ellis, picks up his journey. This former police officer has ventured off into these forsaken woods because a young boy went missing here many years ago.

Ellis will have to brave the never-ending, maze-like design to find out exactly what happened. Bloober Team did great work at creating a very atmospheric experience. As Ellis, you never really know what’s lurking out in the distance. Some areas are pitch-black and others have soft shadows that subtly guide you along the path. Moving around these woody settings would feel very isolated, but fortunately, the developer gives you a dog companion. He can be used in a lot of ways and helps break up the periods of silence that makes you begin questioning your own sanity at points.

Blair Witch is extremely faithful to this horror franchise, which is always what you want to see when developers take inspiration from a beloved project like this. The game doesn’t have the longest story by any means, but where it lacks in shortness, it makes up for in the creep department. You’ll be on a roller coaster ride into the descent of madness, and it will be up to your investigative skills and perseverance that determine whether you’ll come out alive or not.

Seeing this game finally come to the PS4 is great to see. More gamers should experience this unique survival-horror game, even if they’re not that familiar with the movies.

Ciara’s hairstyle with jewelry and crystals from Wild Form’s PROTEÇÃO-Ñ collection has been hugely successful and has become one of the most talked-about looks on social media.
